Discovering Medieval News and events for 2008
Below is a list of all the musems and historic sites we'll be attending this year in our addition to all our school work. We will continue to add to this list throughout the year so please do keep returning:

February 2008
21 February - Chesterfield Museum - Make a medieval medicine, learn about the horrors of medieval surgery or meet the blood sucking leeches. The musem owns an amazing original medieval 'hamster wheel' crane removed from inside the local church where it had sat for hundreds of years.
June 2008
7 & 8 June - Forge Mill Museum - Medieval surgery and crime & punishment. Meet the surgeon and her blood sucking leeches or be put on trial by the local Shire-Reeve for your crimes!
21 June - Oxford Castle - Come along and join us at Oxford Castle in it's second year of opening and play some medieval toys and games.
July 2008
30 June to 4 July - We will be giving displays for schools on medieval life at Bodiam Castle for 5 days during July. If you would like to book a visit to see Discovering Medieval as part of your visit to Bodiam, please contact the castle directly.
6 July - Royal Gunpowder Mills - Meet the medieval surgeon and her blood sucking leeches or try on some armour as we return to this fantastic site for this multi-period event.
19 July - Hallowtree scout camp. Special display for 200 scouts. Closed event.
19 & 20 July - Regrettably we will not be appearing at the Festival of History this year as the date of the event was moved and we were already booked but hopefully 2009 will see us return.
27 July - St Augustines - A community based event In Norwich. Medieval surgery, armour and toys & games.
August 2008
3, 4 & 5 August - Carisbrooke Castle- 'Boot Camp'. We'll be letting the public try on our armour (Kid and adult sized!) and learn about medieval toys and games as part of this EH event.
6 August - Lacock Abbey - Our third year at this unique and amazing site. Displays yet to be confirmed.
16 & 17 August - We're back at the fantastic Bodiam Castle giving displays on crime and punishment on the Saturday and Toys and games on the Sunday.
23-25 August - Carisbrooke Castle - 'Worst days out in history' Come and learn about crime and punishment in medieval times, meet the bloodsucking leeches and the horrors of medieval surgery.
September 2008
6 September - Houghton Regis Medieval Fayre - Try on medieval armour, hold a sword, learn about medieval surgery and meet the blood sucking leeches, be put on trial or play with our medieval toys and games.
22-26 September - We will be giving displays for schools on medieval life at Bodiam Castle for 5 days during September. If you would like to book a visit to see Discovering Medieval as part of your visit to Bodiam, please contact the castle directly.
