Medieval Clothing

Clothes in the medieval period were quite different to the clothes we wear today. There were no jeans, t-shirts or trainers. No Gucci, Adidas or branded clothing. Cotton was not used to make clothing and there were no man made fabrics like polyester. Clothes were largely made from wool, silk, velvet, linen or perhaps the fabulous cloth of gold.

We offer your visitors the chance to try on medieval clothes. Many express surprise at how comfortable they find the clothing and ladies in particular love trying on the dresses and hats.

Visitors often express surprise to learn how much medieval people (the rich anyway) loved fashion and what some of the bizarre fashions were of the period. They also express huge horror to find out that medieval women didn't wear underwear! No bras or knickers in the medieval period!
